About Glauber Ataide
I am a philosopher by education and vocation, dedicated to bringing philosophy back to its original meaning: a practice for life. I hold a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, as well as postgraduate specializations in Psychoanalytic Theory and in Philosophical Counseling. Over the years, I have developed my work at the intersection of philosophy, psychoanalysis, and practical reflection on human existence.
My main field of activity today is Philosophische Praxis — philosophical counseling — a contemporary renewal of the ancient idea that philosophy is not only a theoretical discipline but also a way of life. In my practice, I offer a space for dialogue, reflection, and questioning, where we explore together the challenges of existence: questions about meaning, identity, relationships, mortality, freedom, and the search for one’s own place in the world. Philosophical counseling is not therapy in the clinical sense, but a process of deep reflection, where thought itself becomes a path to clarity, balance, and authenticity.
I am also a member of the Internationale Gesellschaft für Philosophische Praxis (IGPP), the International Society for Philosophical Practice, which connects practitioners worldwide who are committed to developing philosophy as a living practice beyond the academic sphere.
Alongside my counseling practice, I am deeply engaged in making philosophy accessible to a wider audience. I host one of the main philosophy podcasts in Brazil, with more than 160,000 followers on Spotify, where I share reflections that connect the classical tradition of philosophy with contemporary challenges. I also run a YouTube channel with over 130,000 subscribers, which has become an important space for dialogue and dissemination of philosophical ideas.
As an author, I have published two books. My most recent work, Filosofia para a vida: quando pensar é o melhor remédio, presents philosophy as a form of therapy for the soul — a return to the classical idea that reflection can help us face the difficulties of life with lucidity and strength. It is a continuation of a lifelong project: to show that philosophy is not confined to classrooms or academic debates, but is a vital force that can guide and transform our daily existence.
Through counseling, writing, teaching, and media, my goal remains the same: to cultivate a philosophy that is alive, close to people, and capable of illuminating the path toward a freer and more meaningful life. For me, philosophy is not a set of abstract doctrines, but a way of thinking and living that fosters clarity of thought, inner freedom, and the courage to face existence in all its complexity.
